Isas fail to woo investors

Article Category: Debt Management Help and Advice

Investors are turning their noses up at Isas as the end of the tax year approaches.

According to NMG research, just 62 per cent of active investors plan to make use of their Isa allowance.

Reasons vary from fears about the stock market to a general lack of optimism about the economy as a whole.

"The opportunity cost to investors over the long-term from both a tax and investment perspective could be significant," said Richard Wilson, marketing director of New Star Asset Management.

"The survey suggests that the majority of investors may be relinquishing the opportunity to protect up to £7,000 from the clutches of the taxman.

"Long-term investors need to ask themselves this - if they look back in 20 years time, will they regret a missed opportunity and past short-term pessimism," he added.

With household bills rising, many people are struggling to make ends meet, which is affecting how much they can afford to save.

As debt problems mount for some, debt consolidation experts are expecting are spike in business.
